Alfa Awus036h Driver For Windows Xp Sp3
Hey there, I'm thinking of buying an Alfa Network AWUS036H adapter (chipset: RTL8187L ), I want to use it under Windows XP. That XP driver needs to be virtualized under Windows 7 to get mac change working. I'm asking: Does the driver of AWUS036H (RTL8187L) support changing (spoofing) its MAC address under (native and not virtualized or emulated) Windows XP and is the common way (e.g. Registry hack or changing value of Locally Administered MAC Address in NIC's options) enough to do it?
There are a few kinds of adapters that don't support spoofing their MAC under Windows XP, for example Broadcom's BCM4310 USB. I want to make sure if this long-range device, AWUS036H does support MAC spoofing before I buy it. Please reply soon, Thanks Zooya. I have tried out various wired and wireless network adapters and I can say, this is generally supported. There are a few exceptions though. I don't want to waste my money on a wireless router just because that.

Also I don't want to carry that router along with my notebook everywhere I go. The method of MAC spoofing changing Locally Administered MAC Address is supported at many network adapters. My question was simple but it's kind of misunderstood on every forum and every e-mail I write to Alfa Network, the manufacturer. Here is a screenshot what I'm talking about. At every NIC this option is there, most NICs will effectively change their MAC by editing this value, but not all of them.
I would like to ask if Alfa Network AWUS036H with RTL8187L chipset is an exception. Cheers, Zooya. I really appreciate that you're trying to help, but buying extra stuff is not an option for me right now. I know, the capitalist way is like 'solution = spending money', but I don't think that way. Also, a router would be extremely uncomfortable for me carrying it everywhere along with my laptop (I also mentioned this earlier). I used many wired and wireless adapters with spoofed MAC addresses and there were no network problems at all, so I know what I'm doing.
