2004 Grand Cherokee Drivers Door Wiring Harness
Further to my earlier post, in peeling back the rubber boot over the wire harness between the door and post, it was discovered that the black ground wire. WHAT BOTHERS ME is that JEEP MUST KNOW of this defective wiring job on the 2004 Grand Cherokee and has NOT done a recall to fix the problem.
Just went out today and unlock the jeep with keyfob and it didnt unlock the drivers door, but did the other doors. The jeep started and drive as normal, but my elec windows and elec door mirrors do not work. Controls on the other doors are working normally. I had to lock and unlock with key to drivers door. Could it be the fuse, if it is where is it and what colour or number do i look for. Also is it a good thing to relace all the fuses in the fuse box.
How many fuse boxes are there? Similar problem here. • Driver side power windows, locks, and mirrors do not work now. • Passenger power locks, can un-lock all doors (except driver door), but cannot use power windows • Rear doors, no power window functions at all. • Interior convience lights remain on, even when driving (must manually over-ride the switch) • Keys in the ignition, all doors closed, and the system still thinks the doors are open. Get a driver side door message on the console, and the bell constantly dinging This all started Sunday night for me. Tore the door panel off, took the whole switch apart, and checked the PCB for anything that looked funny or smelt burnt.
Cleaned out everything I could. Put all the connections back, checked all the fuses. Problem still present. Been getting a lot of rain up here in Maine, so I am glad all my windows are at least shut. I researched some threads here, and found that there have been problems with the wiring harness in the driver side door, that may cause these problems.
Can I Use Lgpl Library In Commercial Software. Still havent figured out how it knows the door is shut though, as I cant find a damn switch anywhere. Probably looking too hard. I need to research it more, and try to find a wiring diagram. I plan on tearing out the wire harness and testing for continuity and voltages. Problem is, without the color codes, it'll be hard to determine which wire is what. Busting out some spare 16awg and the ol' soldering iron. If anyone has any info or suggestions, we'd greatly appreciate it!
Well, yeah like Cougar said, door wires, its prob one or two, if one gets grounded out then none of them work, I just spent an hour over the wknd rewiring my door wires. Bunnykins: you can check your wires, in the door look to see if it is just one that is in bad shape, if there is more than 5 it is worth taking it out and re-doing the wires. There is a torx/star head #25 in the Wire plug in the door, take that loose, mark on it which way is the top side(don't ask.. ) Then take a flat screwdriver and slowly inch the plug out. Inside your jeep there is two plugs just disconnect them and pull them out carefully through the hole in the side of the body. Connect and repair wires accordingly; and if you want, put a heat-shrink tube over the connections to keep water out.
